Hi, I am James, I run JFI classic cars a well known 02 specialist and this has been my own personal car for the last 9 years. When I bought it it was a standard 1600-2 which had been restored in the 90’s by Jaymic. It was showing signs of requiring more work by the time I bought it. We repaired what was necessary and drove the car as a daily for a few years.
Over the next 7 or so years the car evolved into what you see now. It was a gradual transition which ended with the final work being carried out last year.
Pretty much the entire car has been restored the bodywork is every bit as good as it looks in the pictures having had genuine new boot, bonnet wings and doors fitted. The bumpers and trims are all in exceptional condition. The interior has been re trimmed with new door cards, headlining and the period Recaro seats having just been restored also.
The subframes have been powder coated and the underside had a refresh when the body was restored last year.
All the mechanical modifications have been on the car for over 5 years and the car has covered over 20,000 miles in this time having been to Europe several times on long road trips.
The ethos of this car was to produce a quick road car but maintaining the originality of the exterior. Every feature of this early 02 is correct, with only a few subtle clues as to whats inside.

BMW M42 engine with an eaton M45 supercharger, Running on Omex engine management (Est 196BHP).
A custom intake incorporating a charge cooler.
5 Speed overdrive gearbox, light weight flywheel.
Custom built 3.64:1 LSD.
Custom built stainless exhaust which is not noisy, just a slight burble which gives a clue there is something different about this 02.
E21 rear trailing arms with disk brakes
Front brakes are vented with Volvo 4 pot callipers.
E30 Master cylinder and braided hoses
Bilstein sport shocks and Eibach springs on the front
Rear coil over conversion with a brace mounted in the boot bolted to a reinforced floor section tied into the diff mount.
Full poly bush set fitted.
-ve camber adjustment on the front.
Led headlights
Alpine bluetooth head unit, stealth shelf with quality speakers and a sub under the drivers seat
Rear inertia reel seat belts
This car is a very capable fast road car, the torque produced from the supercharged engine makes it very exciting to drive, the whine from the charger just adds to then fun. It handles exceptionally well and is very engaging. The Number plate is perfect on this 02. FLY, it certainly does.
There is an extensive history with this car and only 5 previous keepers, it will be sold with a new MOT as the current one expires in July.
