Mr Pop’s 2002 – COTM March 2025

This car is my second BMW 2002 I named “SomZa” meaning Sparkling Orange , which firstlyI initially modified just for fun, aiming to create something unique and exciting to drive. Over time, the joy of working on it grew, and during club meetings, it has always stood out as a symbol of pure passion. I’ve continuously developed and refined it to its current form.
The wild bodywork is custom-made by skilled Thai craftsmen. It’s entirely handcrafted from metal, carefully welded onto the original body, with widened fender flares to accommodate larger wheels. This combination gives the small car with big wheels an even cuter, more eye-catching look that kids absolutely love.
The wheels are 15” BBS rims—8.5 inches wide at the front and 10.5 inches at the rear—fitted with 225 50 R15.
Under the hood, I’m using the original M10 engine, modified with an open air intake, standalone ECU, and direct injection control managed by MaxxECU. I absolutely love the M10’s sound and torque, which deliver the ultimate driving experience. It’s pure fun every time I drive this car.
For added comfort and daily usability, I’ve installed power steering, air conditioning, and a large radiator to keep things cool even in tough conditions.
The longest trip we’ve done was a 4-day adventure, driving from Bangkok to race at Chang Circuit—over 600 km away. We participated in a parade and raced for two days, then drove back to Bangkok. The car handled it effortlessly without any issues. That’s the beauty of the BMW 2002—tough, reliable, and always ready for the next challenge.
I often go on road trips with the club, and no matter where we go, it’s always a blast. Driving alongside more than 20 BMW 2002s, racing together, taking photos, and creating unforgettable memories with friends—it’s what makes this car so special.
We welcome everyone to join BMW 2002 Club Thailand. Let’s ride and make more memories together!
