My love for the 02 started since when i was in the university in Melbourne. I was always a bimmer fan, even though i had swayed to a Honda for a couple of years when i saw an orange roundie 02 park on the street of Melbourn, i knew i gotto get one in the future. Fast forwarded to a few years later, finished Uni’ and got back home working in Thailand.
I was trying hard to get a hold of a 02. Unfortunately, i couldn’t find a decent one and gave up instead. Ten year have passed but the 02 specifically a roundie was still in my heart. One day i stumble across a white roundie on Facebook so decided to give the owner a call and appointed to see the car on the weekend.
The car wasn’t in that great shape. The engine had been replaced to a Toyota 4ag 5-speed and the body work had been done in a terrible way with metal sheets piling up on another. Well, i ended up thinking this would be a good project car as there was not that much rust and the engine was running quite ok and yes i drove the car back home the same day.
After i got the car for a while with a few trackdays and spirited drive around the places. Unfortunately, i was hit by an absolutely idiot who decided to make a u-turn out of nowhere on a double crossing traffic and this was led to the front left side of the car being push in and the front under frame was bent.
So after so many trips to the bodyshop which took over a year to completed, the car was back to the same stage, however, it didn’t drive as good as before the accident so i ended up deciding that this would need a longer route and replace the whole front under frame, swap the m20b25 in, and also slapped the new side oversized panels to accompany wider rims.
And this is how it turns out for now with so many future mod in mind but in the mean time i will certainly focus on the other projects first.
