Hi my name is Maurio. I bought my 1968/02 from Salem, North Carolina in 2021.
I originally saw it on auto trader and then tracked it down by the actual seller. I hustled up my cashiers check, kissed my fam goodbye and told them I was out to NC to grab this little cool BMW.
Although there was some negative comments about buying a classic BMW I didn’t let it deter me.
When I got to the seller it was a straight struggle dealing with buying a car on Sunday and low-key having to remind the owner that I just flew all the way across the country and being a Marine I keep my word in getting there.
With a near bidding war averted I acquired Ruby and soon arranged transport for her to be brought back to California.
Upon Ruby’s return she had been sought after and nearly sold by a few collectors over the years.
I outfitted Ruby with a new heart (Newly rebuilt M10), and later applied Gecko Race coil overs, mechanical fuel pump and an aftermarket radiator.
Avid-1 white styled mesh rims and Toyo meats always grace Ruby’s squared stance when rolling.
I’ve owned Ruby since 2021 and it feels like it’s been ages we have been together. From Mano adjusting my timing and all things technical to Jack making sure Ruby stays safe and purring.
Today Ruby’s red coat is ongoing symbol of fun decadence and a youthful spirit in BMW Classic Motorsports.
