2002 Tii, 1975. The current mileage is a low 54,600 miles. This is supported by MOT's until 2003, when the car came to Ireland, where it is now located.
The car was stored by the first Irish owner, who intended waiting until it was 30 years old before registering it (cars over 30 years old in ireland qualify for classic road tax, and are not subject to import duty - it is currently on Irish plates)
It then passed to another enthusiast, and then to me.
It has been used sparingly, garaged, and looked after latterly at a local specialist by a mechanic who served his time on '02's.
The car is in very good condition. As you can see from the pictures, it is in Chamonix white, with a lux interior.

My cabby (BMW 2002 Cabriolet 1973 - M reg), owned for longer than I care to imagine. Was restored some years ago and now showing some rust spots. This car needs restoration, but is a sound basis. The boot is sound as is most of the underside....was replaced and has been looked after. Most panels OK. Doors had repair sections, but these will need attention. Engine smokes on the overun. Gearbox and clutch, recently replaced and sound. Exhaust, sound. Most trim kicking around (including rare cabby bits). Nice and correct alloys. Roof OK. Very expensive powder blue leather seats made up professionally by Marcus Watts. Will need carpets. Went through the MOT last time I ran it, but been sitting in my garage and needs a new owner, missing one side window (some oik with a brick). Sensible offers the other side of £1500-00 would do it. Alpina engine number 1270 is confirmed by the factory in writing as being correct and built in 1974 along with the Alpina head number 1310 is genuine including the camshaft.
Genuine original Alpina engine tuning papers came with the car showing the customers name on the top. The same name as the first owner in the log book.
The above information corresponds with the first owners recent communication confirming again to me that the log book statement is genuine showing the Alpina modifications were undertaken by his order at Alpina in Buchloe when the car was new July 1974. Date of first registration shows the Alpina modifications were undertaken on this car.
The Alpina modifications on the car are as follows.
Alpina A4s engine complete with the original butterfly injection system and Purlator air filter system.
Dogleg Getrag 5 speed gear box including lsd.

The engine was totally refurbished by the previous Alpina BMW collector and the head was sent to Buchloe for refurbishment to the highest standard inc purchasing from BMW one of the last replacement genuine Getrag 5 speed dogleg gearbox available. All this work was undertaken in September 1981 and the car has only covered 25,000 kms since them and finally dry stored since 1990 along with other BMW and Alpina automobiles.
BMW 2002 1973 – Baur Cabriolet

I have owned the car for 9 years and in that time the car has been restored to it’s current condition.
The head gasket has been replaced, along with two reconditioned brake servo’s from Jaymic.
The gear box has been replaced with a getrag 5 speed (original gearbox in garage if wanted) the prop was shortened and balanced. New clutch fitted at same time. Radiator has been replaced and hoses. There is a chrome rocker cover on the engine – original in garage if wanted. New headlamps and brackets fitted. Starter motor and water pump. New master and slave cylinders.
The car was taken back to its bare shell and rebuilt back up – new front wings , one new door, new bonnet and boot lid, new targa top, all new trim parts and rubber seals. Complete respray in original Chamonix colour. The chrome bumpers I had re-chromed again, which gives it a nice sparkle.
The targa top and fold down hood was replaced with new mohair (Black). I also had Recaro front seats (Black) fitted with rear seats to match. I ordered new black carpets from an American company, which are very smart. Also I fitted new door cards front and rear. The boot has been lined with black carpet.
The dash has a rev counter instead of the clock and the mileage is 74000 miles. The car has documented mileage from 64295 nine years ago to present day. It has an original radio with mono speaker, which works well for its age.
I have driven the car over to Lelystad for the 02 meeting in 2006 – there and back no problems.
I also drove around Belguim in 2007 for a week – again there and back no problems
The car drives really well and has been very reliable.
Targa wheels refurbished and wrapped in Dunlop tyres, original wheels in garage if wanted.
I have photo evidence of the stages of refurbishment and receipts to back up.
Over the years I have spent nearly 15k on the car and had a lot of fun! I no longer have the time to love and care for the old girl, so she needs a good home.
I will mot her and put 6 months road tax on for the summer.

BMW 1602 built 1974, colour white. Car has an excellent shell, restored several years ago, during which an older rear panel with round rear lights was fitted, and recently converted by me for historic road rallies. She currently has the following spec:
Reconditioned 2 litre (E21) engine with 5-speed Getrag "dog-leg" gearbox and 25% LSD (3.91 ratio)

The car is totally sound, the interior is superb, however the edges of the boot lid and the lower front valance have a few tiny rust bubbles come up, so not concours, but absolutely fantastic drive (as BMW intended it to be) for daily use or weekend fun.

2002 Auto 33,000 miles. First registered January 1973 I paid £1,500 and have carcoon stored it for 4 years in my barn, taken the engine out and found it to be too badly siezed to be repaired so a doner engine is required. I have spoken to DVLA and they have said if it was manufactured in 1972 it will be eligible for Historic tax exemption so a document from Germany is needed to confirm before they will issue the Historic log book. The shell is the best I have ever seen, there is microblistering on some pannels of the car as the garage it was stored in for 18 years was not leakproof. Otherwise the interior is timewarp and it only has 33k miles on the clock believed to be original and the wear a tear would confirm this. I am planning more racing this year and realistically I am just not going to get round to restoring this car in the next couple of years so I am prepared to let it go to someone who is going to look after the car and want to give me a resonable offer.
